Blast from the Past, Popper's Requiem in high school w/ Brady and Michelle:

So, I'm gonna do a recital at the end of summer term. I'm super stoked for it! And I think I'm gonna do it August 5 or 6. Well see.

Here's what I'm thinking for the program:

Bach: Prelude in C Major [I'm trying to get a copy of Sister Bevan's so I can have fingerings and bowings. So hopefully that'll work.]

Beethoven: Sonata in A Major. First and second movement. With Forrest!

Lalo: The whole thing! Hopefully. All three movements. We'll see if I can get in together in time! Also with Forrest.

Popper: Requiem, for three cellos and piano. With Robert and Stacy and Forrest.

I'm sooo excited! I love music.

I feel sooo blessed to be attending this University and just being in the music program and everything!

Oh it is wonderful.

Do you ever have those Sundays that are just like BAM smack in the face; in a good way?

That's what yesterday was to me.

I dunno why, but it was just AMAZING. I can't share full details about everything, but I feel like I just gained a greater understanding about the Atonement and how big of a part it plays in our lives. I cried just thinking about how amazing it is that our Savior died for us so that we could be forgiven of our sins, so that we could always have someone with us, someone who understands us in the very depths of our despair. It's almost incomprehensible, but I'm going to keep trying to understand and learn more about His infinite atonement.

I also got to spend time with family which was fantastic. I love them so much! And am so grateful that I have so many family members in the area! J.J., Megs,and Bels are here. Kalei and Elaine. And Pup! My bff!

Also, Becs and I visit taught two of our girls yesterday and I just felt like we had really good break throoughs as far as friendship and bearing testimony and stuff.

I am so grateful to be where I am right now. I feel like I'm learning and growing so much and I'm just so happy and grateful for this life. It is fantastic.

ok. Here's the thing. I technically did. I got a 77%. Which is a C+ ish? And I wish I could just take it as my final grade and not show up to class anymore... but I can't. Cuz I know that I can do better and there are DEF some harmonic dictation things that I needa learn. Cause I def missed a lot of chords on that section. But I almost got all the voice parts! Cept tenor. Dang it.

Anyways, yah. I've never been prouder of that bad of a grade before. haha. And it can only go up from there, right?

Ok. So this is weird. but summer term started today and I just had my first three classes. Dictation 2, Theory 2, and Sight Singing 2. And so I feel like I should be freaking out right about now...

But I'm not.

Don't get me wrong, I don't have any weird delusions that I'm gonna be like a theory superstar or anything.

I guess I just feel more confident now knowing that I've taken theory core in a term and feeling like I'm starting to understand the very basic under workings of music.

I know I'll still have to work my trash off, but it'll be good! And I CAN do it.

Also, I getta take cello lessons this term!! From Garrick, the guy that taught me fall and winter. It'll be good. I think it'll help me stay motivated. I'm excited :]

This is gonna be a FANTASTIC term. I can tell.

Well folks, I did it. I survived the kray spring term of 2011.

six classes [including the start of my theory core.]

15 hours of work a week

3-5 hours of practicing everyday.

LOOONNNNGGGG days on campus.

I remember whining about this term at it's start. but here's the thing. It was completely enjoyable. A little crazy, yes. but mostly just laughs and fun, albeit extremely hard work and very little sleep. but hey, what else is new?

And summer term starts on Monday, and Pup's coming and we're taking a class together and Becs is staying and Elise comes back at the end of July and life is "just peachy!" as Dallin would say. hah what a Georgian ;)

but seriously, bring on summer term! I am excited and ready for this new start :]

Also, it's Smoozy's birthday today!! My older brother, so I thought I'd add one of me and him to say HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!

finals and stuff.

Well, I never thought this day would come, but spring term is ALMOST OVERR!! In fact, if all goes as planned, I will be done by tomorrow night. I have 3 finals left. The theory ones. Dictation, which is at 7 tomorrow morning, Sight singing at 8:30, and my theory one, which is take home. And I'm thinking I'll take that during work tomorrow from like 4-8 at night. So yah. That will def be good. And I'll study and practice in the afternoon. Also. I SOOO needa start running like for legit again. cuz I'm outta shape and I hate it. So yah. Gonna start doing that again.

I had my jury this morning and that went pretty well, so I'm glad that that's over. First one done! Woot.

Also! I think I almost have a place to live net year!! It's a duplex and it's in BYU 70th Ward. LOVE. I'm sooo stoked.

And finally, this last weekend I went home for pup's graduation, and it was sooo fun! I LUUUHH WASHINGTON. Like sooo much. it's the best. And Pup will get here Thursday night cause he's coming down for summer, so I'm super stoked for that :]

Ok. So I don't even know what to call this post... but. Life is great! and kray and I love it. This next week is gonna be a littttttle bit outta control. but don't get me wrong, I am excited :]

I have a cello lesson this afternoon and then I leave for home tonight and i am STOKED OUT OF MY MIND. like i've never been THIS stoked to go home before. maybs it's just all the theory that's getting to me and i just gotta bust outta p-town. but whatever the reason, ridiculously excited :]

Tomorrow I getta run tiger w/ McK, that's gonna be sweet. and Pup graduates tomorrow night. WHAT THE. it's gonna be sweet. Then Saturday, just chillin' w/ the fam and lots of practicing. Sunday, I getta go to church at home, fun fun. and then I head back to p-town Sunday night.

Monday is the last day of school, my last sight singing test, last mock test in dictation 193, ect. fun stuff. Then that night I'm playing at a masterclass/recital type thing in preparation for my jury. Tuesday's JURY day. bahhh!! no, it'll be good. I think. I can do it and do it well with Heavenly Father's help. And Wednesday should be my last day of finals! And all I have is dictation and theory!!

I'm SOOO STOKED SPRING IS ALMOST DONE. don't get me wrong... it's been fun, but just kray. so summer will be nice. bring on the 4 classes, work, cello, frisbee, and fun. it'll be sweet. Can't wait. plus, Becs is staying now, so it's gonna be even BETTER!

Yesterday was sooo nice and sunny and hot. And I luuuhhed it.

And I ate a quarter of a watermelon yesterday night. haha. nbd.


Tender mercies of the day:
I took my fourth dictation test this morning and did really well.
Beethoven is coming together and I think I'll be able to do well on my jury.
My sight singing test got postponed to Wednesday.
My theory project isn't due until Monday now instead of Thursday.
It cooled off a bit from yesternight's heat and is now a fun blustery summer day.

and. perhaps the biggest one of all,

I getta go home for pup's graduation in just 3 days!!

Why be good when you can be FAN-JOLLY-TASTIC?!

This was one of Sister Hall's fave sayings this spring term in choir and I luuuhhedddd it. Cause honestly, I feel like I should say this to myself everyday, just to remind myself that I can be FAN-JOLLY-TASTIC!! Because amidst a world where just getting by and procrastination are the way of life, I want to remember to excel, to [pardon the cheezy Elementary school goal] be the best that I can be! But yah. Sister Hall is great! I thouroughly enjoyed choir with her. And I will miss singing during summer term. But fall and women's chorus will be here in no time :]

A day in the life.

Yesterday was kray.

I was on campus from 6:30-10:40.

And this is what I did all day:

I was in class for four hours.

I worked for seven hours.

And I practiced for five hours.

But! Life is good. Really! Just a little kray atm, but it will slow down once summer hits, I think.

Ok. So basically, I've been thinking a lot about what I want to do in the near future. As in through the end of college plus a little bit past that. And I haven't really been able to organize me thoughts yet, so here goes. The ultimate word vomit. Read if you dare.

K, so basically I think I'm just gonna make a list of the BIG things that I want to do in the next 10 ish years. And I'll try to be organized about this.

Prepare for and serve a mission.

Run a marathon.

Study abroad; I'm thinking Africa french speaking.

Be a counselor at dif summer orchestra camps: Marrowstone, MITC, BYU, etc.

Be an efy counselor.

Do an internship for performance or pedagogy somewhere over the summer.

Play a concerto with BYU Phil.

Grad School maybe. I'm looking at Indiana right now.

Get married in the temple.

Get my own cello studio started.

And yah. I feel like there may be a bit more on my mind, but that's all I can think of for now. so yah. This is the outline for my game plan, in no particular order. So we shall see what happens. I am excited for what the future holds :]

I CANNOT BELIEVE THIS. Spring term will be DONE in just 2 weeks. Juries, finals, and everything.

SOOO KRAY.

And I will be heading home for pup's graduation in just 8 days.

Life is sooo good. but kray. This is what's occupying a large amount of my time. cause I gotta get it all learned for juries. It'll be ok though. Just gotta buckle down and do it.

Oh! And on the mish front. Travis got his package! And Tanner report[s/ed]? to the MTC today. And Cara and I might drive up to Northern Utah for Ben's farewell at the end of June. fun stuff.
