My favorite things :]

Ok. So I'm a cello performance major and french minor. What do these two areas have to do with eachother and how will they both help me in my future? I have no idea... I can only think of what I can do seperately with them at the mome. However, sometimes these two worlds do cross. Take this AMAZING video, for instance. SOOO BOMB. I luuuhh it.

So there's this shave ice place RIGHT across from Helaman, and I've wanted to go there since I got down here two summers ago. and I finally went with Becs this week. IT WAS SOOO GOOD.

Also, I got Becs an Italian flag a few days ago.

LUUUHH IT.

100%

So, my theory classes have been a little rough lately... hah. take last Thursday for instance. My theory teacher started putting hw assignments on the projector on Wednesday, and that didn't go too hot. But Thursday was the peak of the worst of it. He looked at my first exercise and started talking about all the things I did wrong. And he ended it with, "So basically, you did everything possible wrong here..." bahah. don't get me wrong. it was funny. but mildly humiliating slash a little discouraging since I'd just gone through the same thing the day before.

BUT! Today, something miraculous happened! my teacher collected our hw and put it on the board to look over. And I got them ALL RIGHTTT!! first time everrrrr! cuz usually there's at least one thing wrong with all of them. but. I think I'm starting ish to get the hang of this! maybs. I'm excited :]

And Heavenly Father must love me. Cause I could not do this theory stuff w/o divine help. serious.

Life is sooo good! check it out!

chillin' in the grass reading PMG and scriptures before church on Sunday. <3

girls will be boys?

bahah. So I just had to share this funnay from earlier today. So in Music Theory we're learning about choral writing and all that good stuff. But our teacher was going over vocal ranges and when he hit the Altos he like started it on a G. And I must have like laughed or made a face or something cause he turned to me slash the class and was like, "Sometimes you'll get Karen Carpenters who can hit this note (he played an F)" And then he turned to me and was like, "Are you an Alto? Can you hit this?" So I sang it. And then just added, "We sang D's in Women's Chorus this year." hah. And then this kid sitting next to me who's in Concert Choir was like, "Yah but Women's Chorus Altos are crazy." So then my teacher hit a D on the piano and I sang it. Couldn't quite stick the C he played after... but yah. it was funny. And now my whole class knows I'm a man. meh. whatev.

lessons learned in psych of performance.

Today I did something I NEVER EVER would have thought that I would do. EVER. At least not voluntarily.

First of all, in sight singing Sister Kenney called on us to sight sing or read a rhythm in front of the class, however, we all had to do it, so that was not so bad.

Then we started talking about our first PACE test which is going to be on Monday. And she asked for a volunteer to take a practice PACE test in front of the class and then her and the rest of the class would grade the person. My initial response was, "HECK no. why would I EVER want to do anything like that?" but then I remembered the class I took last fall semester that had worked so hard to try and get me to perform and go for every opportunity. Because 1.) it's great practice, and 2.) you're not going to die. So why run from an opportunity? So, I did it. I raised my hand and I took the practice PACE test in front of everyone. And I actually fared ok. Yes the real one might be a tad bit harder and yes I still have PLENTY of stuff to work on. but the point is. I can do this.

And I think I had forgotten a little, but I was reminded today to just do and try for everything that comes my way. Like taking a mock PACE test in front of a big group that's grading you, or playing recitals for your friends, or auditioning for Chamber Orchestra in the fall. After all,

"You miss 100% of the shots you don't take."

So what do you have to lose? Just do it.

Becs is gonna laugh at this.

So I promised I would never do this again cause Becs died laughing last time I put my sched on my blog. But this is currently my spring schedule. Crazy? You bet'cha. But I think I am excited. I think I'm starting to get a grip on my theory classes and when Dr. Bigelow emailed me today and said they were in desperate need of cellists for chamber music, I couldn't resist. Plus I need several semesters of this class and what better time to start than now?

Good thing I'm on a 5 mins a day fb diet. And on the bright side, summer term is officially gonna be a walk in the park :]
